The Certified Chaplain

Applicants should have at least the Certified Pastoral Counselor designation or recognized equivalent, and hold a diploma or degree from an accredited or otherwise recognized theological, ministry, or related institution.

Requirements for Graduation / Certification

Candidates must complete required training and demonstrate readiness for ministry service.

Requirement Description Purpose
Previous Theological Training Evidence of prior theological, ministry, counseling, or chaplaincy education. Confirms foundational readiness.
Complete Course Modules Completion of approved training modules or recognized institutional study. Builds knowledge and competency.
Complete Practicum / Internship Supervised practice, ministry visits, field observation, or institutional placement. Develops practical ministry readiness.
Reflection Paper Written reflection on ministry visits, learning outcomes, and pastoral formation. Demonstrates maturity and integration.
Ethics & Accountability Commitment to GAOCPC standards, ethical conduct, confidentiality, and boundaries. Protects the public and credential credibility.

Completion of training does not automatically guarantee certification. GAOCPC maintains independent certification review, ethics screening, practicum verification, and competency evaluation procedures.
